NDIS psychology price limit per hour
Under the NDIS Pricing Schedule 2026-27, the national price limit for psychology is $252.99 per hour, effective 1 July 2026. Higher limits apply in remote and very remote areas. The limit is a maximum, not a set fee, so providers can charge less. Always check the current schedule published by the NDIA before quoting.

How the price limit works
The National Disability Insurance Agency publishes maximum prices for each support item. For 2026-27 the document was renamed from the Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits to the NDIS Pricing Schedule. Psychology sits in the therapy supports, usually claimed under the improved daily living category. A registered provider cannot charge an agency-managed or plan-managed participant more than the limit for that item. Self-managed participants are not bound by the limits, although many still use them as a guide. Your service agreement should state the hourly rate, the item numbers you will claim and how travel, cancellations and reports are charged. If you charge below the limit, say so clearly, because participants compare providers on price.
What changed on 1 July 2026
Psychology was the only therapy discipline to receive an increase in the 2026-27 review. The national limit rose from $232.99 to $252.99 per hour. Occupational therapy, speech pathology and physiotherapy were held at their 2025-26 limits. The NDIA also restructured therapy line items, so each discipline now has separate items for direct service, cancellation, non-face-to-face work, provider travel, NDIA requested reports and telehealth. Providers need to set up the new item numbers in their practice software before claiming, and check that plan managers are using the same codes. Claims lodged against retired item numbers after 1 July 2026 may be rejected, so update templates and quotes at the same time.
Remote and very remote limits
The schedule applies loadings for services delivered in remote and very remote areas, defined by the Modified Monash Model. For psychology in 2026-27 the remote limit is $354.19 per hour and the very remote limit is $379.49 per hour. The loading is based on where the participant receives the service, not where the provider is based. There is no separate state or territory rate for psychology this year; the same national limit applies in every jurisdiction. Travel, reports and cancellations
Under the 2026-27 schedule, provider travel has its own line item and is priced at a percentage of the direct service rate rather than the full hourly rate, with time limits that depend on the participant's location. NDIA requested reports are claimed under a dedicated item at the direct service rate. Non-face-to-face work such as session planning and report writing for the participant can be claimed where it directly relates to their supports and is agreed in advance.
